My parents celebrate their 55th Anniversary Today .. Wow! For the the 50th there was small, intimate little get together at home, for the 55th the plan is Hanging out on a Video Call with Pizza & Drinks! Signs of the times … Life!
I asked my parents to give me a few sentences for the last 55 years .. mum just spoke, dad said he needed time, mum mentioned children, dad mentioned success.. and later sends me an email, so here goes –
Mum .. “Living happily with all my children, have done everything I wanted to do in my life and am grateful and now just want God to take me walking and talking”
Dad .. “I came to London on May 19th 1963 and mum came on 19th May 1965, in June 1965 mum was employed by Gohil Fashions and we got engaged on December 3rd 1965. We have worked many late nights and sometimes catching the last train home and at the same time saw all of you grow up, living happy life onward. Wound up business in 1999 and since then living retired life until now”
My parents met in London, yes mum worked for dad ? They had their first child within the first year of being married, which means for almost 55 years they have been thinking about us, caring for us, worrying about us .. it never stops does it? I still remember how we pretended to be going for a family dinner in central London and then we left them to have dinner alone, just as a couple on their 25th anniversary, mum was so embarrassed ? and apparently all they did was talk about the children!!! That’s what happens with 5 children, 3 outlaws and 6 grandchildren now too❤️
Thank You Mum & Dad ❤️ For everything! Happy Anniversary ❤️
Gita Masi was recently scanning lots of photos and shared some, isn’t it lovely to see these little windows into the past? This wedding photo with Dad’s big smile and Mum looking so serious got scanned too! So many people have made comments on my whatsapp profile photo! Someone even asked how old is the photo when I had already said it’s my parents 55th anniversary ??? hmmmm!!! I haven’t seen my family in a year now, for the first time in 14 years .. no trip to London! That’s 2020 for you?
Photos were more of an event those days and I remember how everything was organised into pretty albums! These days everything is on my phone, lots of photos and albums created by Google (not me!), will photos from today mean the same in 55 years time?
And just thinking …
1965, England had not won any World Cups and now .. 1 Football, 1 Cricket and 1 Rugby? I think thats right! I’m still hoping for 1 more Football in my lifetime!
1965, India had TV’s, just the 1 channel and today how many? It was also the year that saw the anti hindi agitation which meant it never became the National language!
Yes .. 55 years is a long time, seen many generations, many life and world changing events.. you live a history, many dreams realised, many lessons learnt, so much accomplished and still many things to do ❤️
